The Washington Township United Fund provides supplementary financial support for organizations and programs that serve the people of Washington Township. We are a registered 501(c)3 community organization. Because we operate independently of any regional or national fundraising organizations, we can exclusively support youth, families, and adults right here in our own community. We are a 100% volunteer-run organization with no paid administrative staff.

The Washington Township United Fund was founded on September 14, 1959. The original articles of incorporation state the organization’s purpose as follows: “To solicit, receive and collect gifts and to administer and disburse the same for charitable, educational, recreational, civic and philanthropic uses and do anything necessary or proper for the accomplishment of these purposes.” Two years later, the mission was amended to focus exclusively on the people of Washington Township.

The first meeting of the Washington Township United Fund was held on November 30, 1959 at the Danforth Bank Building at “128 Commercial Square” in Washington, Illinois.
